What are gas fees?

Updated September 21, 2026

Every action that changes the blockchain — a purchase, an approval, a mint, a vault — is a transaction that validators must process. Gas is the fee they charge for it, paid in the chain's native currency (ETH, APE, POL, BNB). It rises when a network is busy and falls when it is quiet.

Gas is not an Unvault fee and Unvault cannot waive it. Your wallet estimates gas before you confirm; setting it too low can leave a transaction stuck or failed. On low-cost chains such as Base, ApeChain, Polygon, and Abstract, gas is usually a few cents.
