How do listing approvals work?

Updated September 21, 2026

Before an item can be sold, your wallet grants the marketplace settlement contract permission to transfer items from that collection. This is an on-chain transaction, done once per collection per chain. The permission is granted to a contract, not to Unvault, and it is only exercised when a listing you signed is filled or an offer you accepted executes.

Good practice:

  • Read the approval in your wallet before confirming; it should name the collection and the settlement contract.
  • Revoke approvals for collections you no longer trade — see How do I revoke token approvals?.
  • Never approve from a page that is not on unvault.com.
